We follow the highest standards of safety and preparedness at our center to ensure that all children and staff are safe, secure, and ready to handle emergencies and natural disasters.

How are we prepared?
We practice a variety of emergency drills with the children each month to ensure readiness. These include fire drills, earthquake drills, lock downs, and general evacuations. Evacuation routes and SAFE ZONES are posted in each classroom, at each exit, and in the center lobby.
We are required by the Department of Early Learning to maintain a Center Disaster Plan. This is available for review at the front desk.
We maintain Emergency Kits containing supplies for 72 hours. This includes food, water, blankets, first aid, flashlights, and communication devices
We have an Emergency Information Line for families to contact in case of center-wide emergencies. This line will be updated with our most current information during any big emergencies where we are unable to contact families individually, or when families are not able to contact us.
All staff members are trained in First Aid and Pediatric CPR.
Food and Nutrition
Good nutrition is vital to children's physical and cognitive development. We are excited to announce our new menu’s for the fall season. Our menus have been carefully designed to fulfill USDA guidelines, Washington State Department of Early Learning requirements, and to promote good nutrition while encouraging the development of good eating habits that will last a lifetime. We will continue to serve organic milk to our children, serve fresh, in-season produce when available. We have focused on creating a menu that offers children a wider variety of nutritional options.
Bread products are 100% whole wheat or multi-grain and white breads are rarely served. We only serve brown rice and whole wheat pasta and avoid foods with high fructose syrup.
Servings and Nutrition for Children at KidsCentre
Meals and snacks include a variety of food groups and fat to give children energy, while maintaining total calories within recommended specific age groups and activity levels. Our meals and snacks have limited added sugar and sodium and increased dietary fiber. On average, over a week, we aim not to exceed 35% of total calories from fat, 10% calories from saturated fat and minimal grams of trans fat.
Allergens & Adaptions
If your child has a special nutritional need or requires adaption to the menu, we will offer a substitute that fulfills that particular food group off our alternate menu, or we can work with your family to bring a substitute food from home. Please always alert the administration team if your child presents with an allergy or intolerance to foods.
Our menu is designed to be a 4 week rotation cycle that spans over three months (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). This allows children the opportunity to try foods several times so they have a chance to determine if they like certain foods and develop their palate. Our goal is to provide different meal options throughout the year to allow children the opportunity to decide what kind of foods they really like!
