School Age Remote Learning Center
Our new remote learning center offers elementary students all the benefits of being in school, including structured time to complete their online classes, after school socialization, and learning labs (such as STEM, Science, Teaching for Change, Language Arts & Cooking classes) so they can continue to be challenged and enriched each and every week!
Students can continue their current education via remote learning but will also have the day to day tutoring and mentor ship available from teachers to help them feel successful each week.
This center, directly across from our Post Alley childcare location, is a tenant of the Harbor Steps Community, located in the heart of Seattle. All three towers within Harbor Steps have been upgraded to meet current earthquake codes. The building is reinforced with earthquake 'buttons' to strengthen each floor, and the mortar was fully upgraded. Harbor Steps employs security staff throughout the day to monitor the entire building and security officers conduct hourly safety checks throughout each sector of the building. Additionally, our neighborhood is included in the Downtown Seattle/ First Avenue Association Business Improvement Area and Metropolitan Improvement District, from whose security staff we can draw from at any time.
We use HiMama!
HiMama is such a fantastic tool which has made communication between teachers and parents so much simpler, faster, and more fun! HiMama’s digital childcare daily reports solution was designed by educators to be so much quicker than the paper documentation method, leading to way more time with the kids! With HiMama, parents are supplied with relevant information specific to their child’s growth. Parents can easily access HiMama via smartphone or desktop computer making connections with their child’s teacher even easier.
KidsCentre loves giving back!
KidsCentre loves to give back to charities and invest in the community, so we regularly donate to two charities through the year.
Every November, in the generous spirit of Thanksgiving, we participate in the YWCA's annual canned food drive. In 2016, we gave over 377 pounds of food to those in need! To bring out our competitive spirits, the class that donated the most got a movie party.
Every December, we put an Angel Tree up in the lobby, with wishes from local foster children who would otherwise receive no gifts. In 2019 all 50 tags were taken, thanks to our generous families here at KidsCentre!
